Arts & Crafts Bureau Bookcase

With pierced decoration, attractive metalwork, a flattened cornice and planked back, this bureau bookcase is a fine and practical example of Arts & Crafts design. The decorative metal flowers, above the slatted piercings on either side, are an extremely unusual feature. Of stained oak, it dates to c.1900 and was probably made by the well regarded firm of Harris Lebus.

154cm high, 94.5cm wide and 43cm deep. The two bottom shelves each have a height of 23cm and a depth of 30cm. The upper shelf is 42cm high and 14cm deep.

In good and original condition with a few minor old marks that show up indistinctly on the dark stain. The key is a functioning replacment in the original lock.
