Two Mouseman-style Carved Oak Hall Chairs
These two hall chairs are made in the style of Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson out of solid, stained oak and the back of each has a beast - one a stag, one a dragon - carved in high relief. The tapering square-sectioned legs, with concave chamfering to each edge, are through tenoned into the seat. The backs are also through-tenoned and are pegged into position beneath the seat.
Though clearly made by the same hand, the chairs are not quite an exact pair. The chief difference can be found in the seats, with one being dished and the other adzed.
The stag - 102cm high, 41.5cm wide and 40cm deep.
The dragon - 99.5cm high, 41cm wide and 44cm deep.
In very good condition.
