A 1930s Bentwood Chair-Bed
This bentwood armchair is made of beech and unfolds to form a bed with three sprung cushions. The mechanism to achieve this is a simple hinged one that allows the cushions to lift up and out. When in the seated position, the back of the chair adjusts into two different positions by means of swivelling blocks. It is upholstered in a hard-wearing blue fabric.
It measures 69.5cm wide and 91cm high. When extended the whole bed is 195cm long with the cushions being 183cm in length.
The frame is in very good and refinished condition with some residual stain remaining in the grain of the beech. The sprung cushions are in excellent, reupholstered condition.
