A 1930s Oak Desk with Side Shelves
This desk is made of oak and has three drawers with wooden handles beneath a brown leather top. The two pedestals, with diagonally halved decorative veneers to the front, form open shelves that are accessed from the sides. It dates to c.1930 and has the simple, elegant and functional design of the period.
It measures 107.5cm wide, 57.5cm deep and 77cm high. The kneehole is 53cm wide and 62cm high.
It is in good, refinished condition with a new leather to match the one that was removed. It would have originally been lightly limed and in places there are still some traces in the grain of the oak. There is a small repair to the veneer on the front and one of the side shelves is a replacement.
