A Large Oak Roll-Top Desk and Chair
A large and fine example of the classic roll-top desk, it has an arrangement of drawers either side of a central kneehole with an extensively fitted interior behind the tambour front. The sides and the back are finely panelled and it rests on castors for ease of movement. It comes with an early twentieth century office armchair of oak with cabriole legs and a dished seat.
It measures 139cm wide, 81cm deep and 130cm high. The kneehole is 52cm wide and 66cm high.
It is in gernerally very good, refinished condition though there is some woodworm damage (now treated and inactive) to the softer wood of the desk, namely some of the drawer linings and bottoms and half a dozen holes (now filled) to the oak-veneered top. The tambour is in excellent order and the interior is original and complete.
