A Cotswold School Oak Towel Rail by Gordon Russell
Designed in about 1911 for use in the Lygon Arms in Broadway, which was owned by the Russell family, this towel rail is one of Gordon Russell's earliest furniture designs. It is a simple, functional piece enlivened with classic Cotswold School details such as chamfering and prominent pegs. It is made of oak.
An example is held in the renowned Arts & Crafts collection at the Cheltenham Art Gallery.
It measures 60cm wide, 81cm high and 22.5cm deep.
In good, solid and original condition. Woodworm to the feet has been treated and filled.
