Wylie & Lochhead

Having established themselves as undertakers and shipfitters, by the late nineteenth centry the Scottish firm of Wylie & Lochhead had moved into the lucrative market of furnishing middle-class homes. The company had close links with the Glasgow School of Art and designers such as E.A.Taylor, George Logan and John Ednie were able to popularise the emerging Glasgow Style, introducing it to England through their London and Manchester stores. In return, their flagship Glasgow store brought English Arts & Crafts style by the likes of Liberty and Shapland & Petter to Scotland.
